Three Russian Lacquer Palekh Boxes
Item Details
A trio of Russian hand painted Palekh lacquer boxes feature many classic scenes. The largest rectangular box depicts a troika, a sleigh with three horses. It is signed in the lower right corner with artist’s initials and the village name is on the lower left. The hinged lid opens to reveal a red interior and the box rests on tiny block feet. The smaller rectangular box depicts a women carrying water buckets and a young man beside her. In the background is village architecture. The artist signature is in the middle and the village name appears on the left. The hinged lid open to a red chamber and the box rests on tiny slanted feet. The third box is round with a removable lid and features a women resting on a settee. The artist signature and village appears in the lower center portion of the image.
Condition
Overall in good shape, some minor surface cracks on the lids of the rectangular boxes seen under a loop.
Dimensions
Refers to the size of the troika box. The circular box is 3.5" diameter and the smaller rectangular box is 4" wide x 2.25" deep x 1.5" tall.
