Kelvin Chen Copper Trinket Boxes After Modigliani and Van Gogh
Item Details
A pair of Kelvin Chen enamel on copper trinket boxes. Each features a hand painted enamel design to top of lid; one after Vincent Van Gogh’s Couple Walking in the Trees, a Post-Impressionist work originally painted in France, 1889, and one after an Expressionist portrait by Amedeo Modigliani titled Portrait of Jeanne Hebuterne in a Large Hat, originally painted in 1918. Each box has been constructed and decorated by hand, with green enameling to sides and undersides, and a speckled pale blue granite-like enameling to interior. The Modigliani box is stamped ‘Kelvin Chen, No. 1530, ©2000’ to inside of lid, while the Van Gogh box is marked to underside ‘Kelvin Chen, No. 105, ©2000.’ Each also comes with a small tag explaining the process of constructing these decorative objects.
