Offset Lithographs After Currier & Ives Nautical Scenes
Item Details
A pair of offset lithographs after original lithographs by Currier and Ives titled Summer Scenes in New York Harbor and The Whale Fishery. The print of New York Harbor depicts a great variety of sailing vessels, men in row boats and a race between two sculling teams. The whaling print, subtitled Attacking a ‘Right’ Whale and ‘Cutting In’, depicts men in a small boat attacking a whale and ships in the background. Each print is mounted under glass in a natural wood frame that is wired for hanging.
Condition
- both prints are age discolored; small stain at the bottom left of New York Harbor print; light staining and abrasion wear to the frames.
Dimensions
- measurements of one framed print, both are the same size.
