Chippendale Style Dining Table and Chairs

Item Details

A Chippendale style dining table and six chairs with a mahogany finish. The table has a rectangular top, a scalloped apron with cross-hatched accents, and cabriole legs with ball-and-claw feet; it features a central support to the underside consisting of two tapered legs terminating in bun feet. Each chair features a pierced splat back and a cushioned seat upholstered in red, green, and yellow plaid fabric; two chairs have bowed arms with scrolled handholds. The chairs rest upon cabriole legs with carved acanthus leaves to the knees and ball-and-claw feet. They are marked ‘No. 715 S. Mah Palona Wine Gray’ to their undersides.

Condition

- considerable scuffs, scratches, nicks, and wear throughout; water and heat marks to table top; extension leaf missing; losses to veneer on chair backs; seat upholstery has been replaced; one armchair is a replacement and does not match exactly.
