M.A Hadley "Country" and "Bouquet" Pottery

A collection of handmade and decorated plates by M.A Hadley in the Country and Bouquet patterns. The Louisville, Ky potter Mary Alice Hadley was born into a clay working family of tile makers. M.A took an early interest in painting where received accolades , later she endeavored to make plates for her houseboat on the Ohio River. The pieces were so popular with friends and family that she started a business in 1940. The collection includes twelve dinner plates, twelve salad plates, twelve bread plates, nine coffee mugs and a cream pitcher. Each piece bears painted marks.
