A hand-knotted Persian Khamseh long rug. This short-pile wool area rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of camel, royal blue, burgundy, cherry, and shades of green. It features two serrated hexagonal pole medallions over a camel-colored field. The medallions as well as the field are populated with a multiplicity of figural elements, including the figures of girls, a variety of birds, goats and/or other four-legged animals, palmettes, pinwheels, muskas, oak leaves, lappets, and other motifs. Framing the field are three borders, including a primary lambalo border over burgundy. Selvedges are overcast. Ends finish with short kilim skirts, with short wool warp fringe at one end. The rug is unlabeled.
