An antique Swiss music box. This four-cylinder music box has a rectangular case veneered in burl wood with inlaid details and a brass escutcheon. It has a label to the interior of the lid reading ‘4 Airs Opeératic, Timbres en Vue, 1. Faust. Laisse moi contempler . . . Gounod. 2. Il Trovatore. Misere . . . . . Verdi. 3. Les Huguenots. Chanson Huguenote . Meyerbeer. 4. La Favorita. Viens je cède . . . Donizetti. 20,000 G, Fabrice de Genève 1075’, which is protected behind a clear screw-on frame. Levers to the side read ‘Change-Repeat’ and ‘Stop-Play.’ A hinged glass top covers the music box but allows for viewing while being played. A label to the interior reads ‘Repaired by Keith, Prowse & Co. Manufacturers, 48. Cheapside, London.’ It is marked ‘1075’ to the verso.
