A collection of Zsolnay Pottery porcelain girl and boy figurines, Pécs, Hungary, ca. 1930-35. Depicted is a young boy gathering sticks and a school girl with books in her hand. Both hand painted with polychrome enamel decoration. Green mark present to the underside of both bases.

Zsolnay Pottery was founded by Vilmos Zsolnay in Pécs, Hungary in 1853. Characterized by their Art Nouveau style pottery and figurines fired at high temperatures. Their trademark tower hallmark was not used until 1878, earlier pieces are unmarked. Introduced in 1893, many of the pieces appear with an ‘eosin’ glaze giving them a lustrous iridescent finish.
