An original signed aquatint etching with a la poupée coloring on paper by listed artist Luigi Kasimir (Austria, 1881 – 1962), titled Kahlenberger Strasse, 26. The print depicts the cobbled Austrian street lined with tall buildings and a massively overgrown tree. The image is printed in thin, gestural black linework accented by muted, gritty areas of color. The print is titled and noted as being after an image of the street from September 1817 in-plate to the lower right. It is signed in graphite to the lower center margin. The print is matted in orange-brown and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with fly-specked gold tone finish and a hanging wire. Kasimir attended the Vienna Academy of Art where he studied under Wilhelm Unger, who introduced him to the technique of the colored etching. He demonstrated a predisposition for monuments, street scenes, and tourist landmarks.
