Four Zsolnay Pottery Ceramic Blue and White Figurines

A collection of four Zsolnay Pottery ceramic figurines, Pécs, Hungary. Three of the figurines depicts the same young girl with white glaze and blue decoration in typical genre scenes. All marked to the underside with green stamps, ca. 1980s. The larger figurine depicts a young boy collecting sticks in a basket. Marked to the underside with a blue five churches stamp.
Zsolnay Pottery was founded by Vilmos Zsolnay in Pécs, Hungary in 1853. Characterized by their Art Nouveau style pottery and figurines fired at high temperatures. Their trademark tower hallmark was not used until 1878, earlier pieces are unmarked. Introduced in 1893, many of the pieces appear with an ‘eosin’ glaze giving them a lustrous iridescent finish.
