Japanese Ikebana Basket

Item Details

A vintage Japanese ikebana basket. The woven basket has an asymmetrical handle made from a natural tree branch. The vessel is tall, round and slightly narrow, with diagonal woven bamboo in various thicknesses and contrasting light and dark colors. The basket exterior has been woven around an inside wooden vessel, which has broken in half. No maker’s marks.

Condition

- the inner wooden pot is broken inside with pieces missing
- basket is in good condition with areas of fading and wear
