Leonardo Nierman Mexican Abstract Expressionist Oil on Hardboard "Old City"

A mid-century oil painting on hardboard titled Old City by well-listed prolific Mexican Abstract Expressionist Leonardo Nierman (Mexico/New York; born 1932). Signed by hand to the lower right corner, the colorful painting is comprised of abstract forms and shapes. The painting is presented in a gold tone wood frame with a white linear and gold tone fillet. A wire for hanging purposes and a graphite marking with the title are present to the verso.
Nierman’s first major commissioned work was a large mural at the National University of Mexico. Since then, his works have been represented in numerous reputed public collections, including the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art and Yeshiva University Museum.
