A gravure reproduction poster after the original 1983 silver gelatin photograph titled Sanitarium by well-listed photographer Joel-Peter Witkin (born 1939). Featured on the poster is an image after a silver gelatin print. Depicted is a reclining obese nude figure wearing a mask. Tubes running from a grotesque contraption above the figure, constructed with dead monkeys, are attached to a piece of equipment in his or her mouth. Below the image is the artist’s signature printed in plate; a hand-signed autograph is present to the center margin. Publishing information that reads ‘A monograph published by Twelvetrees Press, Pasadena, California’ is printed to the lower edge. This work is presented unmounted and unframed.
