A hand-knotted pictorial prayer rug, attributed to Turkish weavers. This curvilinear wool rug features a contoured mihrab over a tree of life field filled with blooming branches, leaves, and Turkish tumbler doves, these elements resting on a champagne-colored field. Framing the field are eight borders, including a primary border featuring images of fallow deer, birds, trees, and mosque-like motifs. The universal palette is champagne, caramel, slate blue, black, and pale celadon. Selvedges are double overcast. Top and bottom finish with short kilim skirts and long, tan cotton warp fringe. The rug is unlabeled.
