A handwoven Indo-Turkish area rug. This rectilinear wool rug, attributed to Indian weavers, features a classic Turkish-style design in a palette of black-heathered burgundy, gray, and ivory. It begins with a hexagonal pendant medallion, which encloses ashik guls, stars, palmettes, and stepped diamonds, motifs that feature in the field and spandrels. Framing the field are three borders, each containing abstract geometric patterns. Selvedges are hand-finished. Ends feature steel gray wool warp fringe. The rug is unlabeled.
