A handwoven Indian area rug. This cross-stitched wool rug is rendered in a palette of gray, salmon, peach, camel, and saffron. It begins with three stepped-diamond medallions in salmon over a steel-gray field. The field is populated with semi-geometric palmettes, vines, leaves, and flowers. Framing the field are three borders, including a primary border grounded in gray, featuring a pattern of floral cartouches alternating with stars. Minor borders are grounded in camel. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short tan wool warp fringe. It is labeled on the reverse.
