An oil painting on canvas titled Winter Evening in the Wood by Brown County Indiana artist, Lyle Denney (1951 – ). This painting depicts a wooded landscape with barren trees, covered in a blanket of snow. Denney was awarded the “People’s Choice Award for Best of Show” in the 1996 Hoosier Salon competition and is well known for his participation in the Painting Indiana: Portraits of Indiana’s 92 Counties book, museum show, and eventual sale of the 92 paintings featured in the project. This painting is signed twice by hand to the lower right corner and dated ‘82’. It is titled faintly by hand to the lower left margin. This painting is presented without glass in a carved wooden frame with gold tone detailing. It is ready to hang with a metal hanging wire to the verso.

- minor surface stains to composition; slight wear throughout frame’s finish; loose frame joints.
