Ink Wash

An ink drawing on paper of figures by listed artist Phillip Callahan (1918 – 1991). This stylized drawing depicts undulating, nude figures posed near one another against a stacked layering of thin, curling contour lines. The figures are rendered with cross-hatched and frenetic linework. To the lower right corner of the composition is an artist signature. The drawing is presented under glass in a black wooden frame with a sawtooth bracket and stamp denoting that this is from the estate of Phillip Callahan to the verso.

- light scratching to frame surface; wrinkling to paper backing.
