Antique Wm. Gale Son & Co. Sterling Silver Presentation Ewer

Item Details

An antique sterling silver presentation ewer. Per seller, this large ewer was presented to Robert G. Floyd-Jones, of Jones Beach New York, upon his marriage to Mary Isabelle Mizner in 1885. This sterling silver repoussé ewer, by Wm. Gale Son & Company of New York, features an allover pattern of embossed grape and foliage designs with high-relief branch detailing to the rim, shoulder, and raised base. The applied handle features a branch motif with grape clusters. It is engraved with both sets of initials, “I.M. 1853” and “R.G.F-J 1885”. “Wm. Gale Son & Co. New York” is stamped to the base. This piece tested as sterling silver and weighs approximately 40.30 ozt.
