Carolyn Zimmerman was born in Walton, Indiana. She started her formal artistic training at the Cincinnati Art Academy and studied with French sculptor and painter Antoine Bourdelle as well as Madame Levy-Ginsborg in Paris. Zimmerman body of work primarily focuses on forested landscapes. Carolyn, along with her husband Carl Zimmerman, was a member of the Cincinnati School of Painters.

- watercolor is coming up from underneath the matting along the upper edge; a second painting is revealed to be underneath the watercolor; the signature is partially obscured by the matting; dust to the plastic; minor amounts of denting to the matting corners.
