An antique 19th-century French School oil painting on canvas of a Romantic European landscape with architecture and figures, signed in black paint to the lower right by artist Nicholas. This painting depicts a winding dirt road aligned with slender, interlocking trees and a stone wall. It wraps around an arched monument to the distance, with a calm expanse of water and rustic, coastal town to the right portion of the composition. Covering the surface is what appears to be a thin coat of varnish. To the lower right corner is an artist signature. The painting is presented in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
