Collection of Harry Taskey Woodcuts on Paper of European Townscapes

A collection of three woodcuts on paper of European townscapes by listed American artist Harry LeRoy Taskey (1892-1958), all created in 1930. All works are titled by hand to the lower left, reading ‘Kaysersburg, Alsare’, ‘Belfry of Bruges’, and ‘Fortified Bridge, Kayersburg, Alsare’. A handwritten note is present to the verso of one composition. All are dated and signed by hand in graphite to the lower right. They are presented under glass with off-white matting, and housed in matching black wood frames.

Born in Indiana, Harry Taskey studied at the Art Students League in New York and the Grande Chaumiere in Paris. He is known primarily as a printmaker and illustrator of townscapes, cityscapes, and architectural landscapes. His work has been collected by numerous institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Asheville Art Museum, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, among others.

- toning throughout all prints; minor smudges and residue throughout glass; some wear in frames include scratches, and finish loss scattered throughout; tape remnants to versos.
