An oil painting on canvas portrait of a man by listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (American, 1904 – 1997), dated 1986. This work depicts the full body portrait of a seated male figure posing among a vibrant terracota interior setting. The piece is signed and dated in paint to the lower right corner. The composition remains unframed.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
