An oil painting on canvas of a young woman by listed artist Edgar Yaeger (American, 1904 – 1997). Depicted is a red-headed woman with her hair pulled back and clothed in a bright orange dress. Signed and dated by the artist to the lower right corner. Presented without a frame.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
