An oil painting on canvas of a woman in a floral dress by listed artist Edgar Yaeger (American, 1904 – 1997). Depicted is a seated figure with bright red hair wearing a blue and orange floral dress. Artist’s signature to the lower right corner of painting. Piece is presented as stretched canvas without mat or frame.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
