A Chinese plique-à-jour bowl. This lovely bowl features plique-à-jour, literally meaning “letting in daylight”, a style of cloisonné without backing creating a translucent object, similar to stained glass. It features an aqua blue wave-like pattern to the ground with a floral design in green and rose tones to the surround. The rim of the bowl features a repeated half-blossom border in a rose tone, and the base of the bowl features a central medallion in burgundy, taupe and green tones against a teal ground and a rose tone border. The piece is unsigned.
