Collection of Edgar Yaeger Sketches

A collection of ten Design sketches on paper by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997), ranging from 1934-1986. The works include a variety of mediums ranging from graphite, ink to colored pencil. The selection features an array of sketches for iron work, furniture, murals, stage and interior design. All works are rendered on paper and many are signed and dated by the artist. Presented as a loose group without frames or mats.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
Condition
- some items present toning, water stains, tears, bent corners and wear along edges and throughout the paper.
