This painting depicts a well-seasoned gentleman in a traditional French chef’s uniform, holding a spoon to his mouth in one hand and a copper saucer in the other hand. It is unsigned and presented unframed, without hanging hardware. To the verso are handwritten inscriptions.

- wear consistent with age and use; painting would befit from cleaning; varnish is uneven; marks to the center of painting; craquelure; board is slightly warped; wear and paint loss to edges of board.
