Edgar Yaeger Charcoal Drawings on Paper of Female Nudes

A collection of two charcoal drawing on paper of female nudes by well-listed artist Edgar Yaeger (American, 1904-1997), executed in 1973. Both females appear in a seated position from behind with soft features, sketchy lines and delicate sfumato. Both are signed and dated in graphite. The works remain unmounted and unframed.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
Condition
- discoloration present around the edges; slight bends and dents to the corners; one has been torn from a sketchbook.
