An oil painting on board titled Australian Trees by listed painter Edgar Hatten (American, 1929-1990). Verdant tonalist style landscape with scattered tall trees having formidable, straight trunks and dense crowns. The earth below, horizon line and sky fuse together in a gradient of earthen tones. Encompassed by a tan painted border. Signed and titled to the verso. The work remains unframed.

Edgar Hatten is known for his portrayals of abstract still-lifes and landscapes, with a focus on expressing mood. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He taught at Swinbourne College in Australia, East Los Angeles College, and Citrus College.
