Gorham Sterling Silver "Chantilly" Flatware
Item Details
A sixty-four piece collection of sterling silver flatware by Gorham in the Chantilly pattern. The pattern was first issued in 1895 and was designed by William Christmas Codman who described it as ‘exquisite elegance, simplicity, timeless character, and harmony of effect in every detail’. It features ornately scrolled handles with fleur-de-lis moulding. The group is comprised of eight dinner forks, eight salad forks, thirteen teaspoons, eight iced tea spoons, and several serving spoons of various types. Also included are eight dinner knives, eight butter spreaders, one master butter knife, one pie server, and one serving spoon all with hollow sterling handles and stainless steel elements. There are marks in relief reading ’Gorham Sterling on the underside of each example. Also included is a salad serving set in a different pattern. The total approximate weight is 51.430 ozt excluding the hollow handled knives with stainless steel blades and the largest serving spoon.
