A watercolor painting with graphite of a cityscape by listed American artist Robert Herrmann (1922-1996). The work depicts architectural details of skyscrapers and a hotel. To the bottom right the artist monogram ‘RH’ is written in graphite. Presented unmounted and without a frame.
Herrmann acquired his formal artistic and architectural training at the University of Cincinnati, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, University of Iowa, and Columbia University. While professionally trained, he chose to never exhibit his work publicly, making his first solo exhibit posthumous. He is known for his precisionist style and his paintings of architectural landscapes.
Condition
- some wear around the edges of the painting; graphite marks around the edges of the paper; paint mark to the left print margin; to the verso, print mark to the center of the paper.
