Hand-Knotted Afshar Wool Area Rug

A hand-knotted Afshar wool area rug. It features a large anchor pendant medallion in salmon, shades of blue and indigo and rose pink on an deep blue-black stepped lozenge, with decorative rectilinear spandrels. THe field has a pattern of stylized boteh in a lattice pattern. The field is framed by a pair of meandering carnation bands around a primary samovar border in the field colors with a deep salmon-orange accent color. It has a small kilim skirt with long, hand-tied cotton warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
