An oil painting on canvas of seated nude figures by listed American artist Edgar Hatten (1929-1990), created in 1961. This work features two abstracted nude figures seated on a bench in a decorative interior space. The composition is signed to the lower right; it is also signed and dated by hand to the canvas verso. A few stamps from Hatten Gallery are marked to the verso. The composition remains unframed. It is accompanied by an exhibition brochure and catalog from Cincinnati Art Galleries, LLC.
Edgar Hatten was known for painting abstract still lives and landscapes, integrating mood, concept, visual elements, and drama. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He was a teacher at Swinbourne College in Australia, and in California at East Los Angeles College and Citrus College.
