Edgar Hatten was known for his portrayals of abstract still lifes and landscapes, with a focus on expressing mood. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He taught at Swinbourne College in Australia, East Los Angeles College, and Citrus College.

Condition

- discoloration to varnish; craquelure and tenting to painting, particularly to upper edge; foxing and stains to verso; accretions, chipping and wear to frame with separation at corners.
