Antique "Cries of London: Plate I" Framed Hand-Painted Engraving

An antique hand-painted engraving titled Cries of London: Plate I, engraved by L. Schiavonette, after a work painted by F. Wheatley R.A. The engraving depicts a woman and two children selling primroses on the streets of London. The scene is captioned in the lower margin of the piece, ‘Two bunches a penny primroses, two bunches a penny.’ It is presented matted under glass, set in a wooden frame with hanging wire to verso.
Condition
- to fair; frame shows some marks and wear.
- backing paper is torn.
- wear is age consistent.
