Vintage Venetian Art Glass Bird Bath Fountain

Item Details

A spectacular Venetian glass bird bath fountain, circa 1940s. These fountains were primarily made by master glassmakers for special commissions, making this a one of a kind item. This example stands over five feet high and has four figures riding swans, with a different pose for each figure. A swan is also the central motif. Bouquets of glass flowers encircle the basin, with a spout cunningly hidden inside each bloom. A central ‘pineapple’ in green conceals the pump mechanism. The central pedestal is made of cordonato d’oro, or “creased gold” glass, which incorporates 24-carat gold leaf.
