An oil painting on paper Animals by listed American/Australian artist Edgar Hatten (1929-1990), created in 1979. The painting depicts an abstracted scene with multiple forms filled with yellow, green, black, violet and blue pigments. The piece is signed to the verso of the paper. Artist’s name, title and date are inscribed to the verso of the mat. Presented within a white mat and wrapped in acetate.

Edgar Hatten is known for his portrayals of abstract still-lifes and landscapes with a focus on expressing mood. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He taught at Swinbourne College in Australia, East Los Angeles College, and Citrus College.
