An oil painting on board of an abstract figure with cat by listed American/Australian artist Edgar Hatten (1929-1990), created in 1982. The painting depicts an abstracted interior scene with a seated figure holding a cat. The piece is signed to the verso of the board. Artist’s name and date are inscribed to the verso of the mat. Presented within a white mat and wrapped in acetate.

Edgar Hatten is known for his portrayals of abstract still-lifes and landscapes with a focus on expressing mood. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He taught at Swinbourne College in Australia, East Los Angeles College, and Citrus College.
