An oil painting on paper titled Still Things by American/Australian artist Edgar Hatten (1929-1990), created in 1979. This painting depicts a vague still life composition comprised of a guitar and a piece of fruit on a table. It is rendered with stippled oil application in earth tones. A cardboard fragment to the verso bears the artist’s signature, date, title and enumeration reading ‘793’. This work is matted in white and wrapped acetate protective cover. It is unframed.

Edgar Hatten is known for his portrayals of abstract still-lifes and landscapes, with a focus on expressing mood. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He taught at Swinbourne College in Australia, East Los Angeles College, and Citrus College.
