Hand-Knotted Persian-Style Wool Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian-style carpet runner. This wool rug, attributed to Turkish weavers, is rendered in a palette of deep midnight blue, celadon, lavender, and tan. It features a crisp tree of life pictorial design over a midnight blue field. Populating the field are numerous songbirds, fallow deer, rams, and other animals amid flowering branches, palmettes, and lancet leaves. The field is framed by three borders, including a primary border filled with flowers, leaves, and vines over midnight blue, and two meandering floral minor borders over celadon. Selvedges are double overcast. Top and bottom finish with long, knotted wool warp fringe. The rug is unlabeled.
