A charcoal drawing on paper of a still life by listed American artist Edgar Hatten (1929-1990). Recalling the work of Paul Cézanne, this work features a Post-Impressionist style still life including a basket, a bottle, fruit, and a cloth set on a table. The work is not signed; handwriting to the verso reads “Edgar Hatten, unsigned”. It is presented under a white mat and wrapped in acetate.
Edgar Hatten is known for his portrayals of abstract still-lifes and landscapes with a focus on expressing mood. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He taught at Swinbourne College in Australia, East Los Angeles College, and Citrus College.
