An oil painting on paper titled Five Bottles by listed American artist Edgar Hatten (1929-1990), created in 1978. This work features an abstract still life of five bottles set on a side table. The composition is textured with stippled colors dotted across the surface. The work is signed to the verso of the painted paper and inscribed to the mat verso in graphite, “Edgar Hatten signed verso, Five Bottles, 1978.” A small descriptive label is adhered to the front. The work is presented under a white mat and wrapped in acetate.

Edgar Hatten is known for his portrayals of abstract still-lifes and landscapes with a focus on expressing mood. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He taught at Swinbourne College in Australia, East Los Angeles College, and Citrus College.
