Peter Keil Original 1984 Neo-Expressionist Oil on Board "Orange Sea"
Item Details
An original 1984 oil painting on composite board by well-listed German Neo-Expressionist painter Peter Robert Keil (born 1942), titled Orange Sea. This bold work depicts two sailboats floating past a pair of tall trees on a vivid orange body of water, executed in Keil’s signature jewel-toned glazes and thick black outlines. The painting is signed and dated to the lower left, and is signed and titled to the verso. This work is unframed, awaiting presentation of choice. A certificate of authenticity from the artist, written in German, is included; it has a printed signature.
Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miro. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.
