A vintage, hand-knotted Hamadan wool carpet runner.There is a large lobed medallion in the center of the cherry red field, worked in shades of off-white, coral, sky blue, steel blue, green, peach, and rust. The rest of the field is densely populated with herati motifs combined with geometric floral designs. The minimal spandrels reiterate the pattern established by the central medallion. The narrow inner guard border is a miniature rhodian pattern while the off-white outer border combines small boteh with stylized flowers which incorporate amulets. Black over bound selvedges and short cotton fringe. Tagged ‘Made in Iran’ to reverse.
