Botswana and Songye Kifwebe Style Carved Wooden Masks

A pair of carved wooden masks in the style of Botswana and Songye Kifwebe. These two masks include an oblong face with a patterned headdress, slender eyes and pursed lips. The headdress is painted black and is carved to indicate patterning, which is extended near the eyes and lips. To the verso is a stamp that indicates this was produced in Botswana. The Songye Kifwebe mask is oval in shape, featuring rounded, convex eyelids, a slender and squat nose and protruding lips with a central hole, which is aligned to the edges with a triangular, patterned band. Across the edges are perforated holes.
