Item Details
A Turkish area kilim. This wool rug is handwoven in a colorful, variegated palette of tomato-red, cream, pink, shades of blue, and almond. It begins with three hexagonal medallions, each enclosing a lesghi star and three elibelinde guls, surrounded by a cream grounded boteh border. The medallions rest on a red field , which is filled with stylized flowers and abstract elements in different colors. Framing the field is a wide border grounded in sapphire blue and filled with triple fetter motifs in different colors. Selvedges are single overcast. The rug finishes at top and bottom with long, ivory wool warp fringe, which is wrapped into cords in yarns of several colors. A barcode tag is attached to the reverse, but there is no information about origin.
