A vintage hand-knotted Persian Bakshaish area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in an abrashed palette of coral, dusty pink, rose, mauve, tangerine, and ivory, with black highlights. It features a freeform rendition of a classic design, which begins with a simple hexagonal central medallion with diamond-shaped pendants. The medallion rests on a pale-pink lattice-work field cornered with stripes in bright pink, saffron, sapphire, and other colors. The field is framed by borders grounded in sapphire, ivory, and rose, each filled with abstract geometric motifs. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with knotted ivory cotton warp fringe. It is labeled ‘Made in Iran’ on the reverse.
