An oil painting on canvas of a 19th century portrait. This painting depicts a well rendered portrait of a woman dressed in a period appropriate teal dress, with a lace, foliate shawl accented with a tied ribbon and bonnet. She turns her head to the side, staring forward pensively. The unsigned painting is presented in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- to fair; missing paint at top right and lower center; gesso chipped on frame at lower right; frame chipped along left side; toned backing paper remnants still attached to verso of frame; craquelure throughout painting.
