A circa 1905 drypoint etching on paper by well-listed Spanish artist Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973). The piece, titled Salomé, depicts the Biblical account of Salomé dancing before King Herod as a kneeling female figure holds the head of John the Baptist behind her. The work is signed and dated ‘Picasso 1905’ in plate to the upper right. It is matted in off-white and presented under glass in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso. A label with artist and title information written in an unknown hand is attached to the verso. Included in the Catalogue Raisonné, “Pablo Picasso: Volume I, Catalogue of the printed graphic work 1904-1967” by Georges Bloch, figure 14, page 13.’

Condition

- to Fair; heavy toning to paper, with lighter toned streak to the center; scratches to glass; surface scratching and edge wear to frame.
